NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- August
SafteySuit, an alternative rock band who recently topped at #1 on VH1's Top 20 Countdown, will headline the 2009 Taste of Whitewater Music Stage.
The fan-driven breakthrough of Universal Motown modern rock band SAFETYSUIT continues to spread nationally in the summer of 2009, as ‘STAY,’ the second single from the LIFE LEFT TO GO album, hits No. 1 on the voter-generated VH-1 Top 20 Countdown this week. |

The summer of SAFETYSUIT is shaping up as a watershed moment in the band’s career: “STAY” is also Top 20 nationally in airplay at Hot AC-formatted radio stations. And the group’s live gigging, which first created the buzz behind SAFETYSUIT in their Nashville, TN homebase, continues through the east, mid-south and Midwest through September. They join Collective Soul and 3 Doors Down on selected dates.
The mutual bond between the band and its growing fan base is also reflected in their close online interaction, including frequent Twitter tweets from the band members, most recently thanking fans for the online votes that put them on top of the VH-1 Top 20 countdown. SAFETYSUIT has drawn 14.4 million MySpace.com profile page views and 3.1 million audio streams of “Stay” alone.
SAFETYSUIT is: Doug Brown: guitar, vocals, Dave Garofalo: lead guitar, Jeremy Henshaw: bass, and Tate Cunningham: drums. Originally assembled in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the band relocated to Nashville, TN, where they completed their line-up, recorded their first EP, and found a devoted local following through a residency at the hotspot 12th and Porter. They signed to Universal Motown after a jammed 12th and Porter gig, and rejoined EP producer Greg Archilla to complete their first album, LIFE LEFT TO GO.
“The four of us in the band have been friends forever,” Brown recently told an interviewer. “We feel comfortable around each other. We’re in a safe environment…and that makes us feel free to be who we are. And, if we can inspire that moment or that feeling in our fans, we’ve succeeded.”
